Should you prefer not to engage a celebrant or minister for the funeral service, we fully support your decision. At LDC Funeral Services, we believe in providing you with the flexibility to create a ceremony that reflects your wishes and values. You or your family members are more than welcome to participate by delivering readings or tributes, allowing you to personally convey your sentiments and memories during this important occasion. Our team will gladly assist and provide guidance to ensure that your service is a fitting and heartfelt tribute to your loved one.

You can provide us with the artist’s name and track title, and we will seamlessly incorporate your chosen music into the chapel system. You have the option to select up to three pieces of music, tailored for entry, moments of reflection, and the conclusion of the service. In cases where the selected music is lengthy, we will expertly edit it to ensure it fits within the allocated time frame.

We kindly request that the music you choose is appropriately licensed for playback on our cremation chapel system, guaranteeing a smooth and uninterrupted experience during the service. Alternatively, if you prefer, you are more than welcome to bring your own music player, allowing you to further personalise the music selection for your loved one’s ceremony. Our funeral directors will assist you in ensuring that the music enhances the atmosphere and meaning of the service, providing a fitting tribute to your cherished family member or friend.

You are welcome to choose from a varied range. We use Bradnams and ecoffins. We will order and arrange delivery to our premises on your behalf.

Yes we do. We promote local independent businesses throughout London and currently use two excellent florists one is called Jayesh Florists and the other is Jenny  at Irisandblue on 07985-413353 and you can deal with her directly if you wish.

You are not alone during this challenging time, and you are welcome to participate in bearing the coffin into the chapel if you wish. Our compassionate team will be present to provide support and guidance every step of the way, ensuring that you and your loved ones feel comforted and reassured throughout the entire process. Your active involvement in this important moment can add a meaningful and personal touch to the farewell, and we are here to accommodate your preferences and honour your wishes with care and respect.

Please note: Stating that you, your friends or family will bear into the crematorium or church does not remove our company’s obligation to provide enough staff to do so.We do not remove our bearers costs because a family chooses to bear.

Typically, the cremation of the coffin takes place within the hour following the service. However, in the case of a late service, the cremation may be scheduled for the following day. By law the cremation must happen within 72 hours.

Certainly. This is called a ‘witnessed charge.’ you have the option to witness the coffin’s placement into the cremator. We can make suitable arrangements within the allocated time to accommodate your request, providing you with an opportunity to have a final moment of closure and farewell in a way that feels meaningful to you and your family.

The short answer is NO. It is also a very interesting question. We believe that Funeral Directors or Funeral Homes should never embalm without a specific request from or permission of the family. We understand some companies state that they carry out and charge for ‘Hygienic Preparation’, this may mean embalming, always check.

When death occurs, the eyes and mouth may be set open and this can be remedied by a professional technician without the use of any chemicals.

Embalming is a severely invasive procedure and the chemicals used are pollutants and carcinogens. It will slow natural deterioration and may be requested when family and loved ones wish to view the deceased in church or chapel so as to avoid any health and safety issues.

It is a process required when deceased persons are being repatriated abroad to preserve the body for longer and adhere to health and safety rules.  

LDC are a member of The Association Of Green Funeral Directors and have pledged to reduce pollutants being put into the ground or atmosphere. In the event of viewing, we will always try to present the deceased in as good a light as possible but never embalm unless specifically asked to do so in writing. In this eventuality, we would seek the opinion of a senior pathology technician to ascertain if embalming can be carried out. It is never carried out on our premises.

In many cases, due to drugs administered when alive or fluids pushed, embalming cannot be carried out as the desired effect would be lost given the accelerated deterioration of the body.

We try our utmost to reduce the need to impart specific technical details to families in the event of deterioration as this can cause distress. We ask that our professional opinion is noted. In the event that a family insist on viewing despite our recommendation against it, we will not step in their way but will ask them to sign a waiver. We would then do our utmost to make the deceased as presentable as possible.

Our goal is to provide sensitive and thoughtful advice, ultimately to ensure that the deceased person is treated with dignity and compassion at all times.

Our commitment to environmental sustainability is reflected in our choice of materials. Bamboo and cardboard are the primary materials we use for our coffins, both of which have significant eco-friendly advantages. Bamboo, known for its rapid regrowth, is a sustainable option, ensuring minimal impact on the environment. Our cardboard coffins, comprising 25% recycled cardboard, are not only environmentally responsible but also sturdy, capable of supporting weights up to 17 stone.

In addition to these choices, we offer a unique solution with our coffin cover – a traditional casket that accommodates the cardboard coffin. This innovative approach allows us to reuse the outer casket cover, contributing to a reduction in our carbon footprint.

After the service, the cardboard portion of the coffin is carefully removed and cremated, while the outer casket cover is preserved for future use. This small yet meaningful effort demonstrates our dedication to minimising the environmental impact of our services, ensuring that your loved one’s farewell is both respectful and environmentally responsible.

Yes. The funeral Director is responsible for the service going ahead in a timely and orderly fashion. They are there to help you with any issues you may have prior to and on the day of the funeral. We will always inform our client when we are taking our leave at the end of the funeral service. Often people like to stand around and chat. Our work is done and we will then depart.

Yes. We can take care of all the arrangements on your behalf, be it to another town in the UK or anywhere else in the world.

In many cases, special documentation is required when transporting cremated remains across county borders. It’s crucial to verify the specific requirements with the consulate or embassy of the destination country, as these permissions can vary significantly. Ensuring compliance with the necessary documentation will help facilitate a smooth and respectful process when transporting your loved one’s cremated remains internationally. Please reach out to the relevant consulate/embassy for guidance tailored to your specific situation to avoid any potential complications during this sensitive process.

Yes we do. Application for assistance to pay some or all of the funeral costs from the social fund must be made by the family of the deceased. If the application is approved and the full amount of the funeral account is agreed before the funeral date then we will liaise with the social fund office to make a payment directly to us.

In the event no approval is received up to two working days prior to the funeral date we would ask that the full amount be settled and any future payment received by us from the social fund would be refunded to you. You can read about help with funeral costs here.

Absolutely, at LDC Funeral Services, we offer comprehensive funeral services, including burials and church services.
